Domestic Violence and General Counselling Service

There are times in most of our lives when we experience distressing events and feelings that seem to have no end or solution in sight. Sometimes we know that our feelings are due to particular circumstances such as marital stress, bereavements or illness, at other times we may have no idea what is making us feel the way we do. All we know is that our lives have become uncomfortable, difficult or even seemingly intolerable.

Counselling offers a private safe space where people can talk through issues they are struggling with.

Providing a Quality Service at No Extra Cost

SAC has been awarded a Community Legal Service Quality Mark Standard for General Help from the Legal Services Commission. This standard of service is only awarded to organisations that pass the strict quality control procedures, which are assessed on the quality of service provided to clients.

Funding

As SAC provides FREE advice, it has to find funding from various other sources to cover the cost of running the Advice Centre.

Partnerships

SAC works in partnership with various other organisations who hold regular surgeries at our offices to provide free legal advice in relation to their specialism.

These include:

• Barnet Law Service and Duncan Lewis Solicitors – Immigration and Asylum Advice
• Birdy & Co Solicitors –
Matrimonial and Family matters
• Levenes Solicitors
– Employment and Civil Litigation matters
• Barnet CAB
(Citizens Advice Bureau) – Debt Matters
• Ethnic Alcohol Counselling for Hounslow
(EACH) – Counselling Services
• Metropolitan Police
– Any Police matters and Safer Neighbourhood
